Did you know not everyone is happy?
601 S Vine Street is now the property of The Shepherd’s Heart and Hands! the former vine street homeless camp has now been purchased!
As we been cleaning the property of trash, and cutting trees, trimming branches. Little did we know others were watching and wondering what we were doing.
Well, it’s all started with cleaning, trimming and trying to look at the situation. We were excited that the very location of our 2023 Christmas for the Homeless is now ours!

The Vine Homeless Camp
When I first came to Muncie Indiana in 2023 it took no time at all to find out that their was a problem in this city. Finding the Unhoused was just part of my weekly walks.

Christmas for the Homeless

After the event at Vine it was not long after before the Camp was shut down. over 100 souls came from every part of Muncie to get a Christmas Meal, Tents, blankets, Pillows, Rain gear, and more. This was our very first Christmas for the homeless event. So this property had very special meaning to us. This was one of many homeless camps in the city of Muncie. We would feed the homeless weekly a hot meal and check on them. George, Red, Kim, Grant, Scott, and others where very thankful as we showed up every week to help them survive being out in the cold.
Today, We own the property and someone is not happy.
The Shepherd’s Heart and Hands Inc Purchased the property and as our volunteers were cleaning the lot and working someone came by to ask questions. Nothing wrong with asking questions. They heard about our work with the homeless and remembered the camp that was there. They did not try to contact me nor ask us any questions. They did talk with our volunteers who did not know what our plans were with the property yet, but they knew we helped the homeless and what I was told was a conversation took place about a woman we were going to housed after building a home. but somehow the person asking questions only heard we are moving the homeless to the property which is not the case at all. We have no intentions of creating homeless camps of our own. I was told that an office were having discussions about us all day. but I knew that it was all a misunderstanding due to folks not speaking with us directly. When I heard who the office may be. I told everyone. This business does great work, and we can’t afford this misunderstanding. I personally plan to visit and clear all things up.

We are cleaning the lot and in order to maintain the lot and keep it trimmed, lawned, and cared for. Will require regular maintenance. the amount of trash, glass, and rumble on this property is great. we discussed what to do with the property as we have a heart to help the unhoused but only with the cities blessing, and not one of those unmanageable, unsafe homeless camps. We at The Shepherd’s Heart and Hands Public Charity wants to see people get help, and not live in a tent. Due to the weather cold, we feel it is not humane to keep the unhoused homeless. Put the paths to housing are difficult for many of our unhoused friends who need a hand up versus a hand out.
Pray for Us
We are asking for your prayers as the we are working on the property and we needed to store our garden supplies, tools and such. the volunteers voted to build a small 64 square foot garden shed.

As we were working on the shed someone has been busy making calls, and discussing our group without taking any steps to contact us for clarification of our intentions. We will not get into that here as we know anyone can make a mistake and when you assume problems will arise.
Our Shed Project was shut down and we have not completed it as of yet. We are talking with the city and even though our shed is way below the 200 square foot mark that many are required to have a permit for. We are discussing with the city what must we do to build a 64 sqft shed on our property we purchased.
We understand all who are concerned or even frighten about where the homeless will go. but for our property on vine street. their will be no homeless individuals living there unless we have a proper home in place which the property is too small for such a dwelling. We are praying regarding a garden and hope to place a garden in some areas where the sun does shine. but the property will be rescued and beautified for our Muncie Community.
We are part of the Solution to Muncie’s unhoused, hungry, and hurting souls.
We are The Shepherd’s Heart and Hands. Inc.
